Pakistan appreciates Turkiye peace role

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged Turkiye’s role in promoting peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan during a call with Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The development matters as it supports regional stability during a temporary Eid ceasefire. The move affects diplomatic relations and ongoing security efforts in the region.

According to an official statement, both leaders discussed the situation in Afghanistan and recent peace initiatives. The prime minister appreciated Turkiye’s efforts in encouraging dialogue and reducing tensions. He highlighted the importance of cooperation during the Eidul Fitr ceasefire period.

Meanwhile, Pakistan recently announced a temporary pause in Operation Ghazab lil-Haq. The decision followed requests from friendly Islamic countries, including Turkiye. This step aimed to create space for diplomacy and reduce cross-border tensions during Eid.

In addition, Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned missile attacks targeting Turkiye. He expressed solidarity with the Turkish people during this challenging time. Both leaders urged regional countries to resolve conflicts through dialogue and peaceful negotiations.

Furthermore, the leaders recalled their recent visits in 2025 to strengthen bilateral ties. They agreed to maintain close coordination for peace and economic growth. The prime minister also conveyed Eid greetings to Erdogan and the people of Turkiye.
