Maryam Nawaz orders tight security at bus stands, markets

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has instructed authorities to implement foolproof security at bus stands, commercial centres, and markets across the province, ensuring public safety during busy Chand Raat festivities.

Chairing a high-level security meeting, Maryam Nawaz directed the deployment of additional police personnel in crowded bazaars, emphasizing that women and children must be protected from harassment and criminal incidents at all times.

The Chief Minister further ordered the use of drone cameras and night-vision devices for continuous surveillance, highlighting the need to monitor commercial areas, curb one-wheeling on roads, and maintain law and order effectively.

Authorities were also tasked with enhancing security around ATMs and banks, while police and transport officials were instructed to conduct vigilant monitoring at wagon stands and bus terminals to prevent any untoward incidents.

Maryam Nawaz stressed that fare lists on buses and vans must be prominently displayed, ensuring public compliance with notified fares and preventing disputes or overcharging during the festive rush of Chand Raat.

Officials were asked to maintain strict patrolling and reporting protocols throughout the province, signaling zero tolerance for negligence and prioritizing safety in all public spaces during peak movement and holiday shopping periods.
