ARY awards postponed amid Middle East tensions

Published on: March 26, 2026 4:04 PM

This year’s ARY Entertainment Awards in Dubai have been postponed due to security concerns

KARACHI — The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has begun impacting Pakistan’s media industry, with the ARY Entertainment Awards officially postponed due to security concerns in the region.

In a statement shared on Instagram, ARY Digital confirmed that the awards ceremony, originally scheduled to take place in Dubai on May 9, would be delayed “due to the current situation in the region.” Organisers emphasised that the safety and well-being of guests, partners, and the wider community remain their top priority. A new date for the event is expected to be announced soon.

The awards were set to be held at the Coca-Cola Arena, with preparations underway since the announcement earlier this year. However, escalating tensions following the US-Israel conflict with Iran have created uncertainty across Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates.

Recent developments have seen retaliatory strikes targeting areas hosting US military assets, contributing to a volatile security environment in cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Incidents involving missile interceptions and falling debris have heightened concerns for large-scale public gatherings.

The postponement reflects broader uncertainty as diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict continue. While Donald Trump has claimed progress in negotiations, Iranian officials have denied direct talks, leaving the situation unresolved. Reports of a proposed US peace plan and Iran’s counter-conditions have further underscored the complexity of the crisis.

This is not the first disruption to entertainment events in Dubai. Previous award shows, including the Pakistan International Screen Awards, have also faced last-minute postponements due to logistical challenges such as visa issues.

The delay of the ARY Entertainment Awards highlights how geopolitical tensions are increasingly affecting cultural and entertainment activities beyond the immediate conflict zone.
