Published on: March 27, 2026 1:07 AM

In a proactive and comprehensive move, the District Polio Eradication Committee (DPEC) in Mirpur has finalized an integrated strategy to ensure the successful execution of the upcoming four-day anti-polio campaign scheduled from April 13 to April 16. The decision was taken during a high-level meeting chaired by Raja Sadaqat Khan; moreover, officials described the initiative as crucial to protecting children from the crippling disease. Consequently, all departments have been mobilized to support the campaign.

Briefing the participants, Dr. Fida Hussain Raja stated that the campaign will run continuously for four days without interruption; meanwhile, children from birth up to five years of age will be administered polio vaccine drops along with Vitamin A supplements. A target of 73,317 children has been set; therefore, meticulous preparations have been completed to ensure maximum outreach. He emphasized that polio is an extremely dangerous disease causing lifelong disability, underscoring the urgency of timely vaccination.

To effectively implement the campaign, 439 mobile teams, 42 fixed sites, and 15 transit points have been established across the district. In addition, 35 Union Council Supervisors and 103 Area In-charges have been deployed to ensure strict monitoring and smooth execution. Mobile teams will visit households systematically; furthermore, officials expressed confidence that these coordinated efforts will lead to full coverage and a successful outcome.
