BTS documentary reveals comeback struggles and creative doubts

The globally renowned K-pop group BTS has opened up about the challenges behind its long-awaited comeback in the new Netflix documentary BTS: The Return, offering fans a rare look into the group’s creative process.

The documentary follows the band’s journey while preparing their comeback album ARIRANG, documenting eight months of intense studio work, emotional moments, and creative debates that shaped the project.

During the process, members openly questioned the direction of the title track SWIM, with leader RM describing the song as slower and different from their typical energetic style.

However, the group gradually embraced the creative risk, recalling how earlier global hits initially raised doubts, while mentor Bang Si-hyuk encouraged them to recognise the powerful cultural meaning behind the album concept.
