LAHORE – Lahore Qalandars batter Fakhar Zaman has been charged with ball-tampering during Sunday’s Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 match against Karachi Kings, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Monday. The incident occurred during the second innings of the match.

According to the PCB, Fakhar Zaman faces a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14 of the Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, violating Article 41.3 of the PSL 11 playing conditions, which prohibits any action that alters the condition of the ball. Fakhar denied the charge during a disciplinary hearing led by Match Referee Roshan Mahanama. A second hearing is scheduled within 48 hours, after which the referee will announce the verdict.

In the same match, Karachi Kings fast bowler Hasan Ali was fined 10% of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the PCB Code of Conduct. Hasan accepted the charge, which related to Article 2.5—using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke a batter upon dismissal. The incident occurred on the last ball of the 19th over when Hasan dismissed Haseebullah.

On the field, Karachi Kings executed a disciplined bowling and batting performance, led by Muhammad Waseem, to chase down a modest target of 129 on a challenging surface. A five-run penalty against Lahore Qalandars for ball-tampering slightly reduced the target. Haris Rauf dismissed Khushdil Shah on the first ball of the final over, but Abbas Afridi struck a four and six to secure a dramatic four-wicket victory for Karachi Kings with three balls to spare.

The match highlighted intense competition, disciplinary issues, and the continuing importance of upholding fair play in the PSL.
