Published on: March 30, 2026 6:47 PM

Torrential rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district have killed eight people and injured 42 others, following building collapses caused by heavy rainfall.

The fatalities include seven children and one woman, while several of the injured remain in critical condition. Rescue operations continue as authorities assess damage across the district.

Two buildings collapsed on Sunday due to continuous rainfall, leaving six dead and 30 injured. Three bodies and over 25 injured individuals were taken to District Headquarters Hospital and Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital, where officials are providing urgent medical care. Provincial authorities have urged hospitals to ensure all patients receive the best possible treatment.

Bannu’s Regional Police Officer Sajjad Khan and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Faheem visited the hospitals to review medical facilities and monitor the condition of the injured. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned citizens to remain cautious as torrential rains continue, reporting 17 deaths and 56 injuries across KP so far.

Separately, in Abbottabad’s Havelian area, a roof collapse in Hajia Gali village killed five family members due to heavy rains early Monday morning.

Four girls and one adult died on the spot, while two others were seriously injured and transported to Abbottabad Hospital for treatment. Local police and residents conducted immediate rescue operations.

Authorities have directed district administrations and rescue services, including Rescue 1122, to remain on high alert. The PDMA had forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in most KP districts from March 25 to 30, urging precautionary measures to prevent further casualties.
