Published on: April 1, 2026 1:16 AM

The University of Lahore (UOL) has achieved a milestone in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, with 18 subjects recognized among the world’s best. According to QS (Quacquarelli Symonds), which evaluates over 18,300 subjects across 1,700+ universities globally, UOL showed strong upward momentum. Seven subjects improved their rankings, four appeared for the first time, and the university excelled in key areas including Engineering and Technology, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Management. The university demonstrated particular strength in Pharmacy, Computer Science and Information Systems, Chemistry, Mathematics, Medicine, Engineering, and Business studies, reflecting its growing reputation in both academics and research. QS rankings are determined through academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per paper, H-index, and international research collaboration.

Rector, The University of Lahore, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf praised the dedication of UOL faculty, staff, and students, whose efforts made this achievement possible. He highlighted the university’s commitment to even greater goals, saying the aim is to climb higher in global rankings and further strengthen Pakistan’s position in the world of higher education. With 157 subjects from 35 Pakistani institutions ranked this year, UOL’s performance highlights the country’s progress in higher education while reinforcing the university’s commitment to excellence, research growth, and international engagement.
