Iran may host Pakistani delegation today

Published on: April 15, 2026 5:50 PM

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has said there is a strong possibility it will host a Pakistani delegation today as part of continuing talks linked to broader diplomatic efforts. The statement was made by Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei during a press briefing. He said Pakistan is playing a mediating role by facilitating message exchanges with the United States.

Baghaei said communications through Pakistan have been ongoing since Sunday. He added that Tehran has been receiving messages from mediators and that Iran’s position remains clear and consistent. He said future talks would focus on achieving a comprehensive ceasefire.

The spokesperson said discussions held in Pakistan included issues such as a full ceasefire, lifting of sanctions, and compensation for war-related damages. He added that Iran is seeking resolution of frozen assets and other economic concerns through diplomatic channels.

Baghaei also stated that reports about an extension of the ceasefire are not yet confirmed. He emphasized that Iran and the United States remain at odds, with deep mistrust continuing between both sides. He further reiterated Iran’s criticism of US and Israeli policies.

The developments highlight Pakistan’s emerging role as a diplomatic intermediary in regional tensions. Officials say further rounds of talks may continue depending on progress in ongoing negotiations. No final agreement has been announced so far.
