Balochistan Governor Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, during his recent visit to Karachi, told Daily Times, that Reko Diq is still under process and rumors regarding its closure are erroneous. He said, Reko Diq is merely one portion, the same area has five times larger gold and copper reserves than the Reko Diq Project.
While answering a question, Mandokhail expressed, Reko Diq is a multi-billion project, which can take time to be executed. He added, 15 to 20 percent part of Reko Diq has been specified to a foreigner company for mining, nonetheless, the 80 percent of it still remains, and there is a plan to contact various countries including China for mining the remaining part of Reko Diq.
In addition to Reko Diq, mining is ongoing with China in the Saindak project. Mandokhail affirmed, the Balochistan Government is committed to providing all possible facilitation to the investors to accelerate the economic development of the province. The Pak-China partnership is the base of economic prosperity in the region.
While, copping a gander on Balochistan’s financial sector, the Governor conveyed, the Bank of Balochistan is set to commence operations in five to six months.
