The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that May and June will be the hottest months in Punjab. The authority said temperatures across the province are expected to rise significantly, posing health risks for residents. Officials have urged people to take precautionary measures.
According to the PDMA, South Punjab will face the most severe conditions, with temperatures potentially reaching up to 52 degrees Celsius. Average temperatures across the province are expected to remain between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius during this period. The warning highlights increasing climate stress in the region.

Authorities noted that temperatures in South Punjab are already 2 to 4 degrees above normal. This abnormal rise has raised concerns about heat-related illnesses, especially among vulnerable populations. The PDMA has advised limiting outdoor activities during peak hours.
The report also mentioned that western weather systems may temporarily affect upper Punjab between April 27 to 29 and May 3 to 5. However, these systems are unlikely to significantly reduce overall heat intensity. A mild heatwave is also expected in southern areas from April 29 to May 3.

A nationwide heatwave alert has already been issued, with southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan expected to be most affected. Authorities said the intense heat may continue until early May, increasing the risk of health emergencies.
