Aamir Khan confirms 3 Idiots sequel

Aamir Khan has confirmed that a sequel to the blockbuster film 3 Idiots is officially in development, sparking major excitement among fans. The announcement is significant as it revives one of Indian cinema’s most popular franchises more than a decade after the original release.

According to Aamir Khan, the sequel is being developed around the original characters and is set roughly 10 years after the events of the first film. He revealed that he has already heard the script, although it is still undergoing refinements.

Moreover, the project is being handled by the original creative team, including director Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi. Aamir said Hirani is fully focused on shaping the sequel and described the storyline as well developed.

Additionally, Aamir Khan expressed enthusiasm about returning as Rancho, one of his most iconic roles. He noted that the sequel will preserve the humour and emotional depth of the original while introducing a fresh narrative direction.

Finally, the film had previously faced uncertainty, with cast members expressing doubts about how a sequel would work after such a long gap. Released in 2009, 3 Idiots remains one of the most successful Bollywood films, and its sequel has already generated strong anticipation among audiences.
