Karachi heat set to rise as temperatures approach 38°C

Published on: May 2, 2026 11:15 AM

Karachi is expected to experience rising temperatures over the next 24 hours as the Pakistan Meteorological Department forecasts a continuation of hot and dry weather conditions across the city. Officials have warned that residents may feel an increase in heat intensity during daytime hours as seasonal changes begin to take effect.

According to the meteorological report, the maximum temperature in Karachi is likely to remain between 36 to 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature recorded during the night has been around 29 degrees Celsius. The weather is expected to stay mainly clear with strong sunshine dominating the daytime sky.

Officials said intermittent strong winds may also be experienced in different parts of the city. At present, winds are blowing from the west at a speed of around 11 kilometres per hour, contributing slightly to temporary relief in some areas during the evening and early morning hours.

Humidity levels remain relatively high at around 66 percent, which may increase the perceived heat for residents. Weather experts advise people to take necessary precautions, especially during peak afternoon hours, and to stay hydrated as temperatures continue to rise gradually across the region in the coming days.

Authorities say the ongoing warm spell is typical for this time of year as seasonal transitions bring fluctuating weather patterns. They note that Karachi often experiences rising temperatures in early May, with occasional gusty winds providing brief relief. Citizens are advised to avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, particularly between midday and late afternoon.

Schools, commuters, and outdoor workers are urged to plan activities accordingly to minimize exposure to heat stress. Meteorologists also expect that temperature variations may continue over the next several days, with no significant rainfall predicted in the immediate future, keeping conditions mostly dry and warm across the metropolitan area as expected now
