A tragic road accident in Karachi has drawn attention after video footage emerged showing the moments surrounding the deaths of two men who were crushed beneath a trailer near Landhi Hospital Chowrangi.

According to police and local reports, the incident occurred two days ago when the victims, identified as 25-year-old Arshad and 30-year-old Zameer, were reportedly resting under a parked trailer to escape the intense heat.

Authorities said the two labourers had laid beneath the heavy vehicle and apparently fallen asleep. Unaware of their presence, the trailer driver later started the vehicle and moved forward, resulting in both men being fatally crushed underneath.

Video footage circulating online reportedly shows the trailer moving ahead before the driver is alerted to the incident by the vehicle’s cleaner. Witnesses said the cleaner ran toward the driver after realising what had happened and informed him of the accident.

According to reports, both the driver and cleaner then allegedly left the scene. Police say efforts are underway to trace and arrest the trailer driver involved in the case.

Officials confirmed that no formal First Information Report (FIR) had been registered immediately after the incident, though investigations are ongoing. Authorities are reviewing available video evidence and collecting witness accounts to determine the sequence of events and establish legal responsibility.

The incident has highlighted concerns over road safety, working conditions, and the lack of safe resting spaces for labourers exposed to extreme weather conditions in urban areas.

Residents have expressed sorrow over the deaths and called for stronger traffic enforcement and awareness measures to prevent similar tragedies. Observers say the case also reflects broader issues related to occupational vulnerability and heat exposure faced by daily wage workers.

Police have urged the public to cooperate with the investigation and provide any information that may assist in locating the driver. Further legal action is expected once the inquiry is completed and the suspect is taken into custody.
