According to police officials, Maulana Idrees was shot dead by unidentified armed attackers in the Utmanzai area of Charsadda, triggering a major law enforcement response.

District Police Officer Waqas Khan described the incident as a brutal and unacceptable act, expressing grief over the killing and extending condolences to the victim’s family. He said the death of Maulana Idrees was not only a personal loss for his relatives but also a significant loss for society and religious circles.

Police said a heavy contingent was dispatched to the crime scene immediately after the attack. The area was secured, evidence was collected, and an initial inquiry was launched. Authorities confirmed that CCTV footage from nearby locations has been obtained and is currently being reviewed to help identify and trace the suspects involved.

During the attack, two police personnel — Constable Sher Alam and Constable Pervez Khan — were also injured. Officials said both officers are receiving treatment, while police leadership wished them a speedy recovery. To strengthen the investigation, a special inquiry team has been formed under the supervision of SP Investigation Alamzeb Khan.

Police said the team has been directed to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation using modern scientific methods and available forensic resources. Officials added that all necessary support and resources have been provided to ensure swift progress in the case. The district police officer reaffirmed the department’s commitment to bringing those responsible to justice, saying the perpetrators would be arrested and face legal consequences.
