National Disaster Management Authority has forecast a gradual rise in temperatures across Pakistan starting May 18, alongside scattered rain, thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms in several regions. The authority’s National Emergency Operation Centre issued the advisory after assessing changing weather patterns nationwide. Moreover, officials warned that unstable atmospheric conditions may trigger short but intense weather activity in multiple provinces.
In Punjab, weather experts expect scattered rain, thunderstorms, windstorms and isolated hailstorms between May 19 and May 22 in several cities and surrounding districts. Affected areas may include Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Murree, Lahore, Sialkot, Multan and nearby regions where sudden weather shifts are likely. Furthermore, the province is expected to experience a steady increase in temperatures continuing until May 23.

Meanwhile, Sindh is expected to remain mostly hot and dry from May 18 to May 23 as temperatures continue rising across the province. Authorities noted that dry weather conditions may intensify heat stress in urban and rural areas over the coming days. Consequently, residents have been advised to remain cautious during peak daytime hours due to increasing heat levels.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, isolated rain, thunderstorms, windstorms and hailstorms are forecast in areas including Swat, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Chitral and surrounding districts. Weather officials said similar conditions may also affect northern and central regions of the province intermittently during the forecast period. Additionally, temperatures are expected to rise gradually despite brief spells of rain and storm activity.

For Balochistan, scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected between May 19 and May 22 in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Chaman and nearby areas. However, most parts of the province are still likely to remain hot and dry with steadily increasing temperatures. Meanwhile, similar mixed weather conditions are also expected in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where isolated storms may occur.
The advisory highlights a nationwide pattern of rising temperatures combined with localized rain, windstorms and hailstorms across different regions of Pakistan. Authorities emphasised that short-term weather disruptions may occur even as overall heat levels continue to increase. Therefore, citizens have been urged to stay updated on forecasts and take precautionary measures during extreme weather conditions.
