Pakistan, China have stood by each other during testing times: Memon

Published on: May 23, 2026 9:06 AM

Sindh Senior Minister and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that Pakistan and China have completed 75 years of friendship. The friendship between the two countries is often described as deeper than the sea, higher than the Himalayas, and sweeter than honey. Both nations have stood by each other during difficult times. China is our brother and neighbor, and in every trial, China has supported Pakistan, just as Pakistan has supported China.

Addressing the Sindh Assembly, Sharjeel Inam Memon said that whether during the era of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, or President Asif Ali Zardari, Pak-China friendship has always grown stronger. He said the geographical importance of Pak-China relations became even more prominent during the tenure of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

He further said that when President Asif Ali Zardari was first elected president, most of his foreign visits were to China, while in recent years he has visited China three times. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has also consistently emphasized the promotion of Pak-China friendship. He added that Pak-China friendship is important not only for the region but for the entire world.

He said that the foundation of CPEC was also laid during President Asif Ali Zardari’s tenure. Pakistan has always sought to maintain cordial relations with all neighboring countries. President Asif Ali Zardari also took the important step of introducing the Chinese language into basic education, recognizing its importance for trade interests and for strengthening people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
