Pakistan’s security forces killed 17 militants during a series of intelligence-based operations across Balochistan, according to the military. The operations are significant because they form part of ongoing efforts to counter militancy following a deadly train bombing in Quetta. Security agencies, local communities, and regional authorities are directly affected by the campaign.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in the districts of Mastung, Nushki, Zehri, Khuzdar, and Kech. The military said the raids followed the May 24 train bombing in Quetta, which claimed more than 30 lives. Security forces reportedly targeted multiple militant locations based on intelligence information.

The ISPR stated that troops engaged suspected militants during intense exchanges of fire. According to the military, 17 militants were killed during the operations. Authorities said weapons, ammunition, explosives, and improvised explosive devices were also recovered from the sites. The military alleged that the militants were involved in various attacks and terrorist activities in the region.
The operations are part of Pakistan’s broader counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam strategy approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan. Security officials said the campaign is focused on disrupting militant networks and preventing future attacks. Intelligence-led actions have been increased in areas considered vulnerable to militant activity.

Meanwhile, the military said sanitisation operations remain underway to locate and eliminate any remaining threats. Authorities reiterated their commitment to continuing counterterrorism efforts in coordination with law enforcement agencies. Officials said operations would continue until militant networks and their support structures are dismantled across the affected areas.
