PSX loses over 831 points

The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a bearish trend on Wednesday, losing 831.13 points, a negative change of 0.49 percent, closing at 170,190.64 points against 171,021.77 points on the last trading day, according to PSX data. During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 551.946 million shares with a traded value of Rs 23.759 billion, compared to 550.790 million shares valuing Rs 27.444 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization decreased to Rs 18.864 trillion from Rs 18.940 trillion a day earlier.

Out of 491 active companies in the ready market, 183 advanced, 267 declined, and 41 remained unchanged.

Treet Battery Ltd. topped the volume chart with 46.643 million shares, followed by Dewan Cement with 33.760 million shares and Sitara Petroleum with 25.239 million shares. The top gainers included PIA Holding Company LimitedB, which increased by Rs 376.00 to close at Rs 17,988.00, and The Thal Industries Corporation Limited, which gained Rs 90.52 to settle at Rs 1,022.24.

On the losing side, Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited declined by Rs 240.51 to close at Rs 2,164.61, while Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited fell by Rs 137.97 to close at Rs 25,862.03. In the futures market, 310 companies traded, of which 67 recorded gains, 241 declined, and 2 remained unchanged, according to PSX data.
