Imran Khan undergoes eye treatment, condition shows improvement

Published on: June 15, 2026 3:56 PM

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan was shifted from Adiala Jail to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital for a scheduled examination of his affected eye, where specialists carried out a detailed medical review. Doctors completed the planned procedure successfully before returning him to jail, while hospital officials confirmed that his condition remained stable throughout the treatment process.

According to medical sources, specialists conducted a comprehensive assessment before administering the fifth intravitreal injection as part of Khan’s ongoing eye treatment plan. The procedure took place under close supervision in the operation theatre, where expert surgeons used advanced microscopy-guided techniques to ensure accuracy, safety, and effective delivery of the medication.

Doctors reported encouraging progress following the latest examination and treatment session. Hospital officials said Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) scans indicated visible improvement in the affected eye, suggesting that the ongoing treatment plan is producing positive results. Medical staff also confirmed that no complications occurred during or after the procedure.

Meanwhile, Khan remained medically stable during the entire visit, and doctors described the intervention as a routine day-care procedure that did not require prolonged hospitalization. After completing the treatment and post-procedure evaluation, medical teams discharged him with specific instructions and recommendations designed to support recovery until his next scheduled examination.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed the hospital visit and stated that Khan was transported to PIMS late at night for the scheduled injection. He said the PTI founder returned to Adiala Jail immediately after treatment and reiterated the party’s demand for his transfer to a regular hospital for continued medical care.

The medical team has now outlined a follow-up plan to monitor Khan’s recovery and assess further progress in his eye condition. In addition, PTI leadership has continued to call for improved access to medical facilities and immediate family meetings, arguing that uninterrupted treatment and regular monitoring remain essential for his long-term recovery.
