Iran says past US-Israel actions will not be forgotten

Published on: June 15, 2026 6:56 PM

Iran has said that the US-Iran agreement does not mean past American and Israeli actions will be forgotten or forgiven. The statement is important as it highlights continued mistrust despite ongoing diplomatic efforts. Regional stability, peace talks, and international negotiations are directly affected.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said Iranian people will not forget what he called injustices and military actions. Moreover, he stressed that the agreement cannot erase past “crimes.” His remarks came during a press briefing in Tehran on Monday.

In addition, he said a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States is expected to be finalized soon. Officials indicated the signing ceremony is planned for Friday in Geneva. As a result, diplomatic delegations are preparing for further coordination with neighboring countries.

Furthermore, Iran said the deal includes provisions on frozen assets, compensation, and limited sanctions relief. It also suggested mechanisms for maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. However, Tehran warned that failure by the US to meet commitments would trigger countermeasures.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials reiterated that national sovereignty, regional conflicts, and past wars remain central concerns. They said Iran expects accountability for past actions while continuing negotiations. Observers note that despite the agreement, deep political mistrust between both sides persists.
