PSX loses over 778 points

The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued with bearish trend on Tuesday, losing 778.95 points, a negative change of 0.44 percent, closing at 177,692.92 points against 178,471.87 points on the last trading day.

During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 765.143 million shares with a traded value of Rs 35.443 billion, compared to 807.467 million shares valuing Rs 36.175 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization declined to Rs 19.936 trillion from Rs 19.976 trillion a day earlier.

Out of 493 active companies in the ready market, 146 advanced, 308 declined and 39 remained unchanged. K-Electric Ltd. topped the volume chart with 83.430 million shares, followed by WorldCall Telecom with 71.245 million shares and Sui South Gas with 32.348 million shares. The top gainers included Pakistan Engineering Company Limited, which increased by Rs 50.97 to close at Rs 945.75, and Tandlianwala Sugar Mills Limited, which gained Rs 46.31 to settle at Rs 534.01. On the losing side, PIA Holding Company LimitedB declined by Rs 470.00 to close at Rs 17,530.00, while Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited fell by Rs 112.78 to close at Rs 2,297.36. In the futures market, turnover stood at 682.151 million shares with a traded value of Rs 34.603 billion, compared to 669.542 million shares worth Rs 30.672 billion in the previous session. Out of 318 futures-market companies, 85 recorded gains, 226 declined and 7 remained unchanged, according to PSX data.

PSX to remain closed from June 25-26: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) announced on Tuesday that the equity market will remain closed on account of Ashura holidays. “All TRE Certificate Holders, staff and concerned are hereby informed that Pakistan Stock Exchange Limited shall remain closed on Thursday, June 25th, 2026, and Friday, June 26th, 2026, on account of Ashura, 9th and 10th Muharram, 1448, A.H,” the bourse said. The PSX observes holidays on Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Ashura and Rabi-ul-Awal and trading remains suspended on these days. The federal government on Monday announced public holidays across the country on June 25 and 26 (Thursday and Friday) on account of Ashura Muharram.
