Gold imports decline by 47.79% in 11 months

The gold imports into the country declined by 47.79 percent during the first eleven months of the current fiscal year as compared to the corresponding period of last year, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported. The gold imports during July-May (2025-26) were recorded at $16.090 million as compared to the imports of $30.817 million during July-May (2024-25), according to the data. In terms of quantity, Pakistan imported 306 kilograms of gold during the months under review as compared to the imports of 391 kilograms last year, showing a decline of 21.65 percent. Meanwhile on year-on-year basis, the gold imports into the country witnessed an increase of 228.38 percent as these were recorded at $3.044 million in May 2026 against the imports of $0.927 million in May 2025. In terms of quantity, the imports of the commodity increased by 125.93 percent, from 9 kilograms in May 2025 to 20 kilograms in May 2026. Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the gold imports during May 2026 increased by 28.33 percent when compared to the imports of $2.372 million in April 2026. In terms of quantity, the gold imports increased by 35.56 percent in May 2026 when compared to the imports of 15 kilograms in April 2026.
