Peshawar revitalisation plan progressing rapidly: CM

Published on: June 30, 2026 2:14 AM

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, has said that Peshawar is not merely the provincial capital but also the administrative, commercial, educational and healthcare hub of the province, and investment in the city benefits people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In a statement issued here on Monday, he said that, in line with the government’s vision, work on the Peshawar Revitalization Plan was progressing at a fast pace, while development projects in the sectors of roads, healthcare, education, sports, tourism, drinking water supply and local government were also being executed simultaneously across other districts. Highlighting key ongoing projects in Peshawar, the chief minister said the General Bus Terminal was in the final stages of completion and would soon be opened to the public. He added that the Ring Road Missing Link Project was progressing steadily, with the first of its four packages already completed, the fourth nearing completion, and work continuing rapidly on the remaining two packages. He said construction of underpasses and flyovers at Kabutar Chowk, Hayatabad Toll Plaza, Hazar Khwani and other locations was underway to improve traffic flow on Ring Road. He said that foundation stones of the Warsak Road Flyover and Palosi Flyover projects had been laid, describing them as key components of Ring Road Phase II that would significantly enhance the city’s transport infrastructure. The chief minister said Hayatabad Family Park would soon be opened for the public, while a modern cricket box had already been inaugurated at the Hayatabad Mini Sports Complex to promote healthy recreational activities among youth. He said these were only a few of the many development schemes currently under implementation in Peshawar, adding that several more important projects would be launched in the coming months. Afridi reiterated that the KP government was committed to ensuring balanced development across the province. However, he said, as Peshawar serves as the shared capital and gateway to the province, its development directly benefits residents of every district. He said that under his leadership and the supervision of Provincial Minister for Local Government Meena Khan Afridi, Peshawar was moving towards a new era of development while preserving its historical identity and providing modern urban facilities to its citizens.
