Addressing a ceremony in Sialkot, the minister said Pakistan’s success in what he referred to as the “Battle of Truth” against India, followed by diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace, had strengthened the country’s international standing.
Khawaja Asif credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Syed Asim Munir for their leadership, saying Pakistan had demonstrated its capabilities both in the defence and diplomatic arenas. He added that these developments should be documented for future generations as part of the country’s national history.
The defence minister said Pakistan had evolved from being viewed internationally through the lens of terrorism to being recognised for its efforts to promote peace and reduce regional tensions. He maintained that the government’s diplomatic initiatives had contributed to preventing a wider regional conflict with potentially global consequences.
Turning to education, Khawaja Asif expressed concern over what he described as the declining standards of the country’s education system. He said the traditional teacher-student relationship had weakened and argued that history had been altered over time due to political considerations, preventing younger generations from learning an accurate account of the country’s past.
He also called for the introduction of a uniform national curriculum across Pakistan, saying it would strengthen national identity while preserving provincial and regional cultures. According to the minister, education should focus on producing informed, ethical and responsible citizens rather than simply preparing students for employment.

Khawaja Asif further stressed the need to improve the overall quality of education, encourage research and innovation, and equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed for Pakistan’s future development. He concluded by thanking the people of Sialkot for their continued trust and support throughout his political career.
