
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has been presented with details of federal funds received by the province over the past five fiscal years. According to official documents, from fiscal year 2021 to 2025, the province received a total of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa federal funds worth more than Rs34.88 trillion under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and War on Terror allocations, while the province’s total approved share was even higher.
The documents show that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa received Rs31.14 trillion through the NFC Award during the five-year period. In addition, the federal government released Rs3.74 trillion under the War on Terror allocation to support the province’s financial and development needs.
According to the official figures, the highest amount of funding was transferred during the 2024-25 fiscal year. In that year alone, the province received Rs10.46 trillion in total, including Rs9.34 trillion through the NFC Award and Rs1.12 trillion under the War on Terror allocation.
The report also states that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s total share in federal transfers over the past five years amounted to Rs36.47 trillion. However, the province actually received Rs34.88 trillion, leaving a difference between the approved share and the amount that was transferred.
Official documents further reveal that the federal government still owes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rs1.58 trillion under the NFC Award and War on Terror allocations. The remaining Khyber Pakhtunkhwa federal funds are yet to be released, according to the figures presented in the provincial assembly.
