Punjab CM Approves Maryam Nawaz Centre of Academic Leadership Pilot Project

Published on: July 15, 2026 12:08 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the Academic Leadership Centre pilot project aimed at improving educational standards in the province. The approval was granted during a meeting held in Lahore, where plans for establishing Aitchison-level schools for both boys and girls were also endorsed.

Officials informed the meeting that the first Maryam Nawaz Centre of Academic Leadership will be established on Wahdat Road in Lahore. The campus will feature modern educational facilities along with a state-of-the-art sports hall, hockey and cricket stadiums, horse-riding facilities, and a swimming pool.

Maryam Nawaz said the Academic Leadership Centre will have the capacity to enroll 5,000 male students and 5,000 female students, providing high-quality education and modern learning opportunities.

In a separate meeting chaired by the chief minister, the provincial government also decided to activate water bottling plants in areas facing poor water quality. Bottled drinking water will be supplied by trucks to Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan.

The Punjab government further announced plans to install more than 2,000 water filtration plants across the province to improve access to safe drinking water for residents.
