Maryam Nawaz announces major education initiatives

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced major education initiatives, including new scholarships, laptops, and modern schools. She said the provincial government would continue supporting students until they achieve their goals. The measures aim to improve educational opportunities and safety for millions of students across Punjab.

Addressing the inauguration of 10 Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence in Arifwala, Maryam Nawaz said the Honhaar Scholarship Programme ensures financial constraints do not limit talented students. She pledged equal educational opportunities for children from all backgrounds. She added that public schools are being upgraded to match modern educational standards.

The chief minister announced the distribution of 100,000 laptops and an additional 50,000 Honhaar scholarships. She said the government is investing Rs40 billion to improve facilities in public schools. The upgrades include new classrooms, furniture, washrooms, clean drinking water, fans, and other essential infrastructure.

Maryam Nawaz also highlighted plans to establish science, technology, mathematics, computer, IT, and artificial intelligence laboratories. She encouraged students to learn artificial intelligence, machine learning, and robotics to prepare for future careers. Furthermore, she said the government plans to establish 300 modern schools across Punjab.

The chief minister urged parents to prioritise children’s safety during the monsoon season following recent fatal incidents. She said authorities are working to secure open manholes and expand green electric bus services for students. Maryam added that improving education and ensuring student safety remain the Punjab government’s top priorities.
