Pakistan Hockey Federation finalises plan for 20-member World Cup squad

Published on: July 18, 2026 8:12 AM

The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has decided to finalise a 20-member national squad for the upcoming Hockey World Cup.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the PHF Selection Committee, chaired by the federation’s ad hoc president Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, where detailed discussions were held regarding the composition of the national team.

During the meeting, the international coaching staff presented comprehensive briefings on each player’s technical, physical and tactical performance to assist the selectors in making the final decisions.

The committee agreed to name a 20-player squad for the World Cup, while the remaining shortlisted players will be placed in a reserve pool. The reserve players will remain available for selection in case of injuries or any other unforeseen circumstances before or during the tournament.
