An American woman who was allegedly sexually assaulted at her apartment in Karachi Defence Housing Authority (DHA) has recorded her statement before a judicial magistrate as the investigation into the case continues.

According to court proceedings, the victim appeared before Judicial Magistrate (South) Saima Katto, where her statement was recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). The statement was subsequently sealed and will form part of the evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Police arrested a teenage suspect following the alleged assault, which reportedly took place at the woman’s residence in DHA Phase VI on July 17. The case has drawn attention due to the seriousness of the allegations and the involvement of a foreign national.
State Prosecutor Abdul Razzaq Gujjar confirmed that the investigating officer presented the victim before the magistrate to complete the legal formalities required during the investigation.
Following the completion of the suspect’s initial police remand, investigators produced him before Judicial Magistrate (South) Muzammil Ali Soomro. The investigating officer informed the court that an ossification test had already been conducted to determine the suspect’s age, with the report expected within the next few days.
According to the prosecution, the suspect remained in police custody on transit remand because the relevant court was unavailable at the time. Authorities said he would be produced before the appropriate court for further proceedings.
Police have registered a case at Darakhshan Police Station under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which relates to the offence of rape.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the victim or the suspect because of the sensitive nature of the case. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say further legal action will depend on the evidence collected, including forensic findings and the results of the ossification test.
