PSX remains steady as KSE-100 gains

Published on: July 23, 2026 6:20 PM

The Pakistan Stock Exchange remained in positive territory on Thursday, with the KSE-100 Index gaining more than 100 points. The benchmark index traded at 174,533.28 by mid-day, reflecting cautious investor sentiment.

The KSE-100 Index rose 103.36 points, or 0.06%, from the previous close of 174,429.92. It opened higher and reached an intra-day high of 175,237.59 before easing back during the trading session.

Meanwhile, the index touched an intra-day low of 174,144.11 as market activity remained range-bound. Investors adopted a cautious approach amid mixed market signals. Trading remained confined within a relatively narrow range.

Trading activity was moderate during the session. More than 60.14 million shares changed hands, while the traded value reached Rs3.52 billion by mid-day. The market remained open at the time of reporting.

Additionally, brokers said trading activity stayed selective with limited participation from institutional investors. They noted that profit-taking emerged after the benchmark index approached its intra-day peak. However, buying interest helped keep the market in positive territory.

The modest gains reflected resilience despite the absence of strong momentum. Therefore, market participants continued to monitor sector-specific activity for further direction. Investors also remained focused on broader economic and corporate developments.

The direction of the market later in the day will likely depend on fresh investor activity and institutional participation. Analysts said sustained buying could support further gains. However, continued cautious trading may keep the benchmark index range-bound.
