Zainab’s father demands arrest of accused Imran’s aides

Published on: January 24, 2018 4:03 PM

KASUR: Father of 7-year-old Zainab, who was raped before being strangled to death earlier this month, has on Wednesday insisted the police authorities to arrest aides of the accused Imran Arshad.

In an interview, Zainab’s father Amin Ansari stated that the accused, identified as 23-year-old Imran Arshad from Kasur, did not carry out rape and murder of his daughter on his own and that his facilitators should also be arrested.

“We got to know Imran kept our daughter with him for five days before killing her. He kept her at his residence, that means his family and friends are also involved in the murder. We demand that his facilitators be arrested as well,” said Ansari.

The victim’s father also negated claims that the accused is a relative, adding that all such individuals should be arrested and made an example.

“Some reports in the media saying he is our relative, he came to our house. These reports are baseless. All such culprits should be caught and punished,” Zainab’s father added.

CM Shahbaz announces arrest of Zainab’s murderer

Earlier on Tuesday, Zainab’s suspected murderer and rapist is a 23-year-old man named Imran, Sharif announced. The suspect is a serial killer based in Kasur. “Our collective effort has borne fruit and the murderer has been arrested,” a triumphant Sharif announced to loud applause.

“I wish to hang this beast in public at chowk but we are bound by the law and I request the chief justice of the Lahore High Court that this case be heard in the anti-terrorism court,” Shahbaz said.

The Punjab CM thanked various ministers, officials and members of intelligence agencies for tracking down the rapist.

He said DNA samples from 1,150 people were profiled and once the culprit was caught, his DNA match was a “100 percent” with the evidence collected from the crime scene.
