KARACHI: Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing on Tuesday invited Pakistani citizens to gain from China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

While addressing the CPEC Summit being hosted by Dawn Media Group in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and Development, Jing said that Pakistan should benefit from CPEC with the help of Chinese expertise.

Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif and Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah were present at the Summit.

The ambassador extended Chinese assistance, stating that China wants the region to develop as a whole and Pakistan, China’s iron brother, to reap the benefits of CPEC. Jing added that the main objective is to improve the living standard of Pakistani people by implementing CPEC.

Jing further said that he believes that collective efforts of the iron brothers will set an example of global community for the world in the years to come.

Senator Mushahid Hussain also addressed the Summit, stressing the fact that both the countries have been friends helping one another in achieving core interests. Hussain also said that China plays a pivotal role in global economy as well as international politics.

Hussain endorsed PM Abbasi’s address on the first day of CPEC Summit that CPEC had become a reality and a new form of cooperation between the two governments.

A two-day CPEC Summit commenced on April 23 which will be highlighting the achievements of CPEC to the public at large. It also aims to discuss CPEC’s umbrella projects, the Belt and Road Initiatives.
