Rajkumar Hirani: Sanjay took girls to mother’s fake grave to develop emotional attachment

Published on: June 27, 2018 1:07 PM

Ranbir Kapoor starrer, Sanju is all set to release on July 29. The movie is a biopic of Sanjay Dutt’s controversial life. The movie shows how Sanjay Dutt managed to become India’s leading superstar against all odds.

Rajkumar Hirani who is the director of the movie has revealed a lesser known fact about Munna Bhai. Hirani shares close ties with Sanjay Dutt and told to India Today that Sanjay Dutt would tell lies to girls to create an emotional attachment with them.

Hirani told that Sanjay used to take girls to a graveyard at some random grave, and tell her it’s his mother’s, making them feel special. ‘I have brought you here to meet my mother.’ Hirani Quoted Sanjay.

Hirani continued, “After this unusual meeting, the girl would feel emotionally attached to Sanju. The reality was that the grave was not his mother’s.”

Hirani also said that Dutt used to bear grudges against the girls who used to dump him. “A girl broke up with him so Sanjay took his friend’s new car and smashed it into another car parked outside his ex-girlfriend’s house. Later on, he found out that the car he rammed into belonged to his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend. Both cars were severely damaged,” Hirani reminisced.

In the trailer of the movie the Sanjay’s girlfriend count is unveiled and is said to be more than 300. Sanjay Dutt was notorious for having love relationships with junior, senior, and contemporary female artists, India Today.

Upon being asked, Ranbir said he won’t be comfortable revealing his girlfriend count. “No. I actually won’t allow it. I don’t think I am a courageous enough man like Sanju sir to give my life out so openly. But my count has been less than 10, so people can’t make a biopic on me,” said Kapoor when the trailer of the movie was released.

He also recalled calling Sanjay Dutt every night before shoot to know his feelings and it would help him get into the character. “I called Sanjay Dutt the night before every shoot. I wanted to know what was going through his mind when all of these incidents happened with him.” said Ranbir.

Kapoor also talked about how Sanjay Dutt’s father got to know about Dutt’s drug addiction. “This particular time, Baba was so high on drugs that he thought a candle was burning Sunil Dutt saab’shead. Sanjay then proceeded to put out the imaginary candle. It was then that Dutt saab got to know that Sanju was completely hooked on to drugs.”

Sanju is releasing this weekend and is set to rule box office.
