‘We all want him back’: Dybala on Messi’s Argentina future

Published on: November 20, 2018 1:29 PM

As doubt looms over Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi‘s future with the national team, fellow Argentina team-mate Paulo Dybala has said that the entire squad wants Messi back.

According to Football Italia, Dybala said that everyone in the team knows how important Messi is for the South American giants and that they all want him to return and lead them.

“We all want Messi back in the national team. We all know the importance of Leo for us, but it’s up to him. We are a group made up of many young players and we need the support of the people,” Dybala said.

Messi, who has not played for Argentina since the team’s Russia 2018 World Cup exit at the hands of France in round-of-16 of the tournament, has not opened the lid over his future with the national team.

With Leo’s silence over the issue, many believe Russia 2018 was the last time people saw the 5-time Balon d’Or winner play for the light blue and white.

However, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni remains hopeful that Messi would make his comeback sooner or rather than later. That’s one thing only time will tell.
