Blind singers grab first and second positions in ‘Voice of Potohar’

Two blind singers Maria Kanwal and Nazkat Ali bagged first and second positions respectively at music competition ‘Voice of Potohar’ held under the auspices of Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) on Tuesday. Senior musicians Khalid Siddique and Anjum Shahbaz adjudged the competition, which was anchored by Ali Zeb. More than 200 amateur singers participated in the competition. The first prize of Rs 20,000 was secured by Maria Kanwal, second prize of Rs 15,000 was clinched by Nazakat Ali, third prize of Rs 10,000 was achieved by Nazakat Ali while fourth consolation prize worth Rs 5,000 was achieved collectively by Haroon and Hafsaba. Addressing the prize distribution ceremony, Member of Provincial Assembly Farah Agha said that new talent is the asset and the future of the country. She applauded RAC for providing good opportunity to young singers. Naheed Manzoor said that people from far-flung areas participated and had melodious voices.
