CTD registers Quetta blast case under terror charges

Published on: May 15, 2019 12:24 AM

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station, on Tuesday, filed a First Information Report (FIR) of the Monday night’s Mini Market Blast in Quetta.

The case was lodged against unidentified men under the Anti-terrorism Act 1997 and The Explosives Act on the complaint of the Satellite Town Police Station SHO.

On Monday, at least four policemen embrace martyrdom while 12 others were injured as an improvised explosive device (IED) rigged to a motorcycle exploded near a mosque in the Mini Market area in Quetta.

The injured were shifted to the nearest hospital for medical aid. Meanwhile, two of the injured officials were said to be battling life and death circumstances.

The device was reportedly targeting a police vehicle deputed to provide security to people offering Taraweeh at the mosque. Soon afterward, the attack was claimed by Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Condemning the Quetta terror attack, Prime Minister Imran Khan sought a detailed report from the concerned authorities.

In his statement issued here from Islamabad, the premier prayed for the martyred police officers; offering condolences to the bereaved families.

PM Khan had directed for the provision of the best medical care to the wounded. He also prayed for their speedy recovery.

Those who are targeting innocent people in the holy month of Ramadan did not have a religion, the PM added. The government of Pakistan was said to be determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism.
