Former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged the international community to take firm action against India’s aggressive policies, warning that they threaten peace in South Asia. He made these remarks during a press conference in New York, where he strongly criticized India’s military and strategic behavior.
Bilawal stated that Pakistan has never initiated conflict but always responded in defense. He revealed that Pakistan downed six Indian fighter jets during a recent escalation, underscoring its right to protect national sovereignty. He also praised the US President and Secretary of State for playing a key role in achieving a ceasefire during that tense period.
Highlighting serious concerns, Bilawal condemned India for using water as a weapon and targeting civilian areas, including mosques and water reservoirs. He questioned how the world would react if its lifeline—water—was cut off, calling such tactics inhumane and unacceptable in any civilized society.
He further pointed out Pakistan’s long-standing sacrifices in the war on terror, recalling that his mother, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, was among those who gave their lives in the fight against terrorism. He said Pakistan has always stood for peace but cannot ignore repeated Indian provocations.
Additionally, Bilawal criticized India for rejecting Pakistan’s offer of a transparent investigation into the Pahalgam incident. He emphasized that peace talks remain the only path forward and said the unresolved Kashmir dispute lies at the heart of ongoing tensions between the two countries.
Earlier, during a meeting with the UN Security Council President in New York, Bilawal and a Pakistani parliamentary delegation called for respect for international law. They urged the council to play a more active role in promoting de-escalation, resolving disputes, and ensuring global peace, especially concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
