Heavy rain lashed Murree, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, causing trees to fall and water to enter homes. The downpour began last night and continued with short breaks. In Murree, several trees fell, blocking roads and trapping vehicles. Landslides were reported near Bostal Road and Expressway, where three people were slightly injured by falling rocks. Rescue teams safely evacuated 11 people and cleared stuck vehicles.
In another incident, landslides hit two homes in Numb Jhandagali village. Fortunately, no lives were lost. The heavy rain, strong winds, and landslides caused widespread disruption in Murree. Bhurban and nearby areas have been without electricity for over 12 hours. Many tourists and locals are stranded due to blocked roads and fallen trees.
Rawalpindi and Islamabad also experienced intense rain. Low-lying areas were submerged in water. In Rawalpindi’s private housing society Phase 8 and surrounding villages, water flooded into homes. The situation remains tense as more rain is expected. Rescue teams are on high alert to help affected families.
Babusar Top was hit even harder, with roads and communication lines destroyed. Flash floods swept away almost everything in their path. Search efforts are ongoing to locate tourists and restore basic services. The Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to Murree. He also warned against swimming in rivers and dams during the current weather conditions.
Several rural areas, including Bagh Rajgan, Kharkan, and Sohawa villages, were affected by the rainfall. Damaged roads and flooding have made movement difficult. Authorities are working to restore access and provide relief. People are advised to stay indoors and follow official safety guidelines until the situation improves.
