Torrential rains kill 11 in Occupied Kashmir, including 5 children

Published on: August 30, 2025 1:51 PM

Heavy rains caused severe damage in occupied Kashmir overnight. Floods and landslides destroyed homes and property. Officials reported that 11 people died due to the disaster. Among the victims were five children from the same family in Reasi district. The heavy rainfall caused widespread fear and distress in the affected areas.

In Reasi district, rescue teams found seven dead members of one family. Local authorities said their house collapsed during the rainstorm. Meanwhile, in Rajgarh tehsil, four more people died in similar rain-related incidents. Many houses were damaged or washed away by floods. The situation worsened as water levels kept rising.

Rescue workers faced many challenges while trying to save trapped residents. Flooded roads and landslides blocked access to some remote villages. Despite difficult conditions, emergency teams used boats and other tools for rescues. Police and local officials coordinated to reach the hardest-hit areas. However, many victims could not be saved due to the severity.

The rains displaced hundreds of families who lost their homes. Authorities opened temporary relief camps for those affected. Basic supplies and medical help were provided to evacuees. Weather experts warned that heavy rain might continue in the coming days. Officials urged people to stay alert and take safety precautions.

Local leaders called for urgent help and better disaster planning. They stressed the need for stronger flood control measures in the region. Humanitarian groups offered support to the affected families. The tragedy highlighted weaknesses in emergency preparedness and response. Residents mourned their losses while hoping for quicker recovery.
