The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a detailed report on the destruction caused by recent floods in Punjab. Heavy flooding in the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab rivers has badly affected thousands of villages and displaced millions of people across the province.
According to the report, more than 4,100 villages have been hit by floodwaters, leaving over 4.2 million residents struggling with losses. Authorities confirmed that large areas of farmland and infrastructure were damaged as the rivers swelled far beyond normal levels. This has created one of the most serious flood emergencies in Punjab in recent years.
Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed said that rescue teams have moved over 2 million people to safe locations. He added that hundreds of boats, trucks, and volunteers were deployed during the massive evacuation. Despite these efforts, thousands remain at risk in hard-to-reach areas, while the scale of losses continues to rise.
To support those affected, the government has set up 423 relief camps in flood-hit districts. These shelters are providing temporary accommodation, food, and basic facilities to displaced families. The authorities are also distributing clean water, clothing, and other emergency supplies to minimize suffering among survivors.
Additionally, 512 medical camps have been established in affected districts to provide first aid and urgent care. Doctors and health workers are treating waterborne diseases, injuries, and other flood-related health problems. Officials stressed that relief efforts will continue until conditions improve and affected families can safely return to their homes.
