Curfew in Ladakh enters 6th day amid killings, arrests

Published on: September 30, 2025 1:11 AM

Curfew and severe restrictions entered the sixth consecutive day, today, in Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh region in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as the territory reels under the aftermath of Indian forces’ brutal firing that left four unarmed protesters dead and nearly one hundred injured. According to media reports, the New Delhi-controlled BJP regime imposed the clampdown on September 24 after Indian troops fired bullets and pellets on peaceful demonstrators demanding full statehood for Ladakh and its inclusion under the Sixth Schedule. Those killed in the forces’ action included Tsewang Tharchin, a Kargil war veteran of the Ladakh Scouts, along with Rinchen Dadul (21), Stanzin Namgyal (24) and Jigmet Dorjay (25). Heavy deployment of Indian Army and paramilitary forces continues across Leh and adjoining Kargil, with gatherings of more than four persons strictly banned. Internet and communication services remain suspended, choking the flow of information and leaving the population cut off.
