Major Sibtain Haider Martyred, Seven Terrorists Killed in D.I. Khan Operation: ISPR

Published on: October 9, 2025 11:35 AM

RAWALPINDI – A major of the Pakistan Army was martyred while seven terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

The operation took place on Wednesday, targeting the reported presence of “khawarij belonging to Indian proxy, Fitna al Khwarij” in the Daraban area of D.I. Khan, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). “Seven Indian-sponsored khawarij were sent to hell due to effective engagement by the security forces,” the ISPR said.

During the intense exchange of fire, 30-year-old Major Sibtain Haider, a resident of Quetta, embraced shahadat while leading his troops from the front. “A brave officer who fought gallantly paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced martyrdom,” the ISPR added.

The operation resulted in the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the slain militants, who were reportedly involved in multiple terrorist activities targeting security forces, law enforcement agencies, and innocent civilians.

The ISPR further stated that a sanitisation operation was underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored terrorists in the area. “Pakistan’s security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of Indian-sponsored terrorism from the country. The sacrifices of our brave sons further strengthen our resolve,” the statement read.

The development comes a day after ISPR confirmed that 11 security personnel, including a Lieutenant Colonel and a Major, were martyred in an exchange of fire with TTP militants in KP’s Orakzai district.

The renewed surge in militant activity highlights the continuing threat posed by terror outfits operating along the western border regions, and Pakistan’s commitment to neutralising them through targeted operations.
