On behalf of the Government of Sindh, Spokesperson. Sukhdev Hemnani has extended warm greetings to the Hindu community on the joyous occasion of Diwali, wishing peace, prosperity and happiness to all those celebrating across Sindh and beyond. Mr Hemnani highlighted that continuing its tradition, Sindh Government declared public holiday for the Hindu community on Diwali this year as well. He noted that this yearly gesture reflects the Sindh Government’s enduring commitment to recognising the cultural and religious diversity of the province and ensuring that every community can practice their faith with equal dignity and joy. He further shared that in connection with the Diwali, the Government of Sindh has ensured foolproof security arrangements at temples and communal places of the Hindu community. Mr. Hemnani emphasized that safeguarding the rights and safety of religious minorities is both a constitutional duty and a moral obligation of the State. He stated that under the inclusive leadership of Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Government continues to lead in protecting minority rights and promoting interfaith harmony. “Sindh was the first province to enact the Sindh Hindus Marriage Act, Sindh Communal Properties Act and many other landmark policies to protect the rights of Hindu community while through 18th amendment, PPP ensured representation of religious minorities in Senate through reserved seats. These achievements stand as a testament to the PPP’s progressive vision and dedication to equality”, Hemnani underscored. “The spirit of Diwali – light triumphing over darkness – reflects the values of unity and hope that define Sindh’s social fabric, upholding the same ideals, Sindh Government is striving to build a society grounded in respect, tolerance and inclusion,” Hemnani added.
