Hindu community celebrates Diwali with devotion across globe

LAHORE: The Hindu community in Pakistan and across the world is celebrating the festival of Diwali today with religious zeal and enthusiasm, marking the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

Special ceremonies are being held in temples across Pakistan to commemorate the occasion. As part of the celebrations, devotees light traditional clay lamps (diyas), symbolizing the return of Lord Ram after fourteen years in exile and the victory of righteousness.

The festival also honors the sacrifices and teachings of Shri Ram Chandra Ji, who preached the principles of truth, devotion, and compassion central to Hinduism.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended heartfelt greetings to the Hindu community in Pakistan and abroad. In his message, the premier described Diwali as a festival of lights that represents the victory of light over darkness and hope over despair.

He also acknowledged the valuable role of the Hindu community in Pakistan’s social, economic, and political development, saying their continued contributions strengthen the country’s unity and diversity.
