Pakistan, Turkey to discuss counterterrorism mechanism on October 25

Published on: October 24, 2025 9:32 PM

Pakistan will discuss a strong and verifiable counterterrorism mechanism with Turkey on October 25. The Foreign Office spokesman, Tahir Andrabi, said Islamabad fully supports this initiative. He added that the talks aim to enhance regional security and cooperation. Pakistan closely monitors developments to prevent any cross-border attacks from Afghanistan.

Recently, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister visited Pakistan for a two-day trip. During the visit, both countries signed two memorandums of understanding. Officials discussed trade, regional cooperation, and the situation in Ukraine. Poland praised Pakistan’s role in promoting peace and stability in the region. Andrabi noted that both sides aim to strengthen ties across multiple sectors.

Pakistan maintains active diplomatic contacts with Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. Andrabi said officials focused on boosting bilateral relations and regional collaboration. He emphasized that citizen safety near borders is a priority over trade. Furthermore, Pakistan will continue monitoring cross-border movements carefully to protect its citizens.

Regarding Afghanistan, Andrabi stated that Pakistan welcomes the Doha agreement regardless of the Taliban’s stance. Pakistan expects adherence to international law along the Kunar River. He clarified that India opening an embassy in Afghanistan is an internal matter. Pakistan continues to observe developments but refrains from commenting on other countries’ domestic policies.

On Israel and Palestine, Andrabi criticized Israel for violating international law. Pakistan reaffirms its support for an independent Palestinian state. He noted that the International Court of Justice issued four rulings against Israel since January 2024. Pakistan and the OIC countries strongly endorse these decisions and condemn Israel’s illegal actions in Palestinian territories.
