Video Viral: Dumper crushes motorcyclists stopped by Karachi Traffic Police

KARACHI: A tragic accident in Karachi’s Korangi area left one man dead and two others seriously injured after a speeding dumper truck ran over motorcyclists who were being stopped by traffic police near Singer Chowrangi.

The incident, captured on video and widely shared on social media, sparked public outrage and criticism of the traffic police’s conduct. Citizens questioned why motorists continue to be stopped on roads despite the E-Challan system, arguing that such practices put lives at risk.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Iqrar, whose body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for legal formalities. The dumper driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle, which has since been taken into custody, while authorities are attempting to trace and arrest him.

Eyewitnesses condemned the unsafe operation of dumper trucks in Karachi and highlighted the lack of strict enforcement against heavy vehicles. Traffic Police In-Charge Akmal confirmed the driver was speeding and hit the motorcyclists from behind, adding that all aspects of the accident are under investigation.

Meanwhile, MQM-P criticized the E-Challan system, accusing traffic officers of using minor violations to extort motorists while heavy vehicle operators continue to operate with impunity. The party demanded action against corrupt officials and emphasized that the system should focus on road safety and transparency, not revenue generation.
