Relief dispatched by PDMA Sindh to districts affected by dengue cases

In view of the increasing number of dengue cases across Sindh, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has dispatched relief supplies to the affected districts. On the request of the deputy commissioners, the distribution of essential items for dengue prevention is ongoing in various districts.

According to the spokesperson of PDMA Sindh, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Jamshoro has been provided with 6,000 mosquito nets, 16 wheelchairs, and 3 fogging machines. Similarly, the DDMAs of Tando Allahyar and Sanghar have received 5,000 mosquito nets each to strengthen the dengue prevention campaign in their respective districts.

Director General PDMA Sindh, Syed Salman Shah, stated that under the instructions of the Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Rehabilitation, Gyanchand Essarani, relief supplies are being provided immediately to the affected districts.

He added that PDMA is actively working to address the dengue situation and all possible resources are being utilized. The DG PDMA appealed to the public to adopt preventive measures against dengue, avoid water stagnation in homes and streets, and cooperate with the Health Department and district administrations to help control the spread of dengue.

1,340 test positive for dengue

The Sindh Health Department has released an updated report on confirmed dengue cases across the province, stating that a total of 3,680 dengue tests were conducted over the past 24 hours, out of which 1,340 have tested positive.

According to the report, 2,032 tests were carried out in Karachi Division, confirming 590 positive cases, while 1,648 tests were conducted in Hyderabad Division, with 750 positive cases reported.

Secretary Health Sindh, Rehan Baloch, said that during the past 24 hours, 99 new patients were admitted to government hospitals, whereas 80 new dengue patients were admitted to private hospitals. He further stated that 74 patients recovered and were discharged from government hospitals, while 126 patients were discharged from private healthcare facilities.

The Health Secretary confirmed that no dengue-related deaths were reported from any government hospital in the province during the same period.

As per the latest statistics, 238 patients are currently under treatment in government hospitals and 196 patients are admitted in private hospitals across Sindh.

To accommodate dengue patients, 974 beds have been allocated in government hospitals across the province – including 256 in Karachi, 155 in Hyderabad, and 563 in the rest of Sindh. In private hospitals, 407 beds have been allocated – with 156 in Karachi, 185 in Hyderabad, and **66 in other districts of Sindh.

Rehan Baloch added that 17 laboratories in Karachi are conducting dengue testing, including 4 government and 13 private labs, while 17 laboratories are also functional in Hyderabad for dengue diagnostics – comprising 6 government and 11 private labs.
