ISLAMABAD: The four-day Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC) 2025 concluded on Thursday, with 83 agreements worth Rs76 billion ($273.6 million) signed between local and international exhibitors, the Pakistan Navy said.
The second edition of PIMEC ran from November 3–6, featuring 178 exhibitors, including 28 international firms and 150 local organizations, showcasing innovations, technologies, and services across the maritime sector. The event also hosted 133 international delegations from 44 countries spanning Europe, Asia, North and South America, Africa, the Middle East, and the Far East.

“The signing of these MoUs sends a concrete signal of Pakistan’s commitment to fostering strategic partnerships, promoting technology transfer, enhancing capacity-building, and unlocking opportunities in the maritime sector,” the Navy said.
Pakistan, with its 1,046-kilometer coastline along a major global trade route, has historically underdeveloped its maritime economy, facing challenges like limited commercial fleet capacity, outdated port infrastructure, and declining seafood exports. The expo is seen as a milestone in advancing the country’s blue economy ambitions.

Officials said that by 2047, Pakistan aims to emerge as a global blue economy hub, promoting sustainable growth across the North Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean, leveraging trade, technology, and regional partnerships.
