Shehbaz, Zardari condemn terror attacks, vow action against militants

Published on: November 11, 2025 10:41 PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari met on Tuesday at the Presidency to discuss Pakistan’s security situation. The high-level meeting came after a series of terrorist attacks struck Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) earlier in the day. Both leaders strongly condemned the violence and pledged decisive action against those responsible.

Earlier, a suicide attack outside the district and sessions court in Islamabad killed 12 people and injured 36 others. In another incident, 14 security personnel were wounded in a bomb attack in Dera Ismail Khan. Security forces also continued an operation in Wana Cadet College to neutralize three remaining terrorists. These incidents have heightened concerns about renewed militant activity in the country.

According to state broadcaster PTV, the meeting was also attended by Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani and National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq. Federal ministers Syed Mushtaq Raza Naqvi, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Khalid Hussain Magsi, and Abdul Aleem Khan were also present. Officials reviewed recent security developments and ongoing counterterrorism measures.

During the discussion, the president and prime minister expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives. They emphasized unity among political and security institutions to defeat terrorism. The leaders agreed that protecting citizens remains the government’s top priority. They also directed law enforcement agencies to stay on high alert and intensify intelligence-based operations.

In a post shared by PTV on X (formerly Twitter), both leaders reaffirmed their resolve to continue “actions against foreign-backed terrorists and their facilitators”. They vowed to eliminate terrorism completely and maintain national stability. The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to peace and its determination to confront all threats to Pakistan’s security.
